Don't Delay - Knock Out Your Taxes This Weekend

Don't Delay - Knock This Tax Season Out the Way

Seasonal traditions often bring stress, whether it's the prepping of holiday meals, purchasing the "right" gift, or filing before midnight. With a unique alignment, this might be an epic year of tax procrastination.

Just say no! Reduce your stress and organize this weekend!

Last December, the IRS announced quirks with this year's tax season.

The filing deadline to submit 2015 tax returns is Monday, April 18, 2016, rather than the traditional April 15 date. Washington, D.C., will celebrate Emancipation Day on that Friday, which pushes the deadline to the following Monday for most of the nation. (Due to Patriots Day, the deadline will be Tuesday, April 19, in Maine and Massachusetts.)

A bonus weekend for most of us and an extra day for Maine and Massachusetts??? These conditions are ideal for procrastinators to wait and plan to "get around" to filing. Just a tap of reality: it's not worth the stress.

Blogger Andrea Woroch knows us, the procrastination masses. In the frenzied last few weeks last tax season, she writes not only of why we delay but cost-effective assistance.

Why allow the ghosts of tax seasons past lull you enter wasting a beautiful mid April weekend in a panic? How many times have you rushed to the post office after sunset feeling equally anxious and accomplished?

Get ahead of the game while the weather is still less than perfect. Not only could it yield a faster return, it also saves you from a 5% penalty and the worries tied to an extension.
